Bottled Water – The Silent Environmental Killer

T ime and time again corporations fool all of us, admit it…you’ve been fooled into buying something at one point or another! Do you think bottled water tastes better? Don’t be fooled! Bottled water kills the environment! People need to be aware that bottled water dries up natural water supplies known as aquifers. Mother Earth is probably disgusted at humans because we do not need to be drinking bottled water.

There is a reasonable eco-alternative to bottled water but many people think it “tastes bad”. The eco-alternative that “tastes bad” is tap water. Tap water is rich in chemicals to ensure safe drinking water; if you’re worried about the taste… you can easily buy a water filter like Brita at the store! Tap water is free, and it is the something as bottled water, minus extra filtration. Also, why put such a negative impact on the environment with all those bottles that do not need to be used or even made! If you’re one of those people who buy bottled water because it tastes better, you should buy a Brita filter and start using a reusable water bottle with tap water filtered by Brita.

Today we see politicians and companies claiming to be “environmentally friendly”, yet it most cases marketing as “eco-friendly” has no governmental restrictions and companies can lie to consumers. Any company could sell in a scandalous, hypothetical situation… sell a product that’s cut down a million trees, polluted 10 lakes, and then label the product as “eco-friendly”.

As consumers, we must be aware of these things, as corporations are being scandalous. Corporations make consumers believe they are environmentally friendly when they are not. It is very, very sad to see our Earth being trashed by corporations, leaving us hopeless! Do not feel hopeless; we can help save the environment with one little action at a time! Firstly, stop buying bottled water, buy a filter for tap water or just drink from the tap…saving money and the environment is a perfect two punch combo!
